A Hidden Friend, the best in air filters and accessories

Who ever thought of an air filter tucked away in the back of the engine compartment? The second time I replaced the cabin filter with a Fram filter soaked in baking soda. I believe baking soda cleans almost everything, including the air we breathe. No tools are required to change the filter on my Ford Windstar. The operating instructions show how to do this. A great do-it-yourself (and money-saving) product for any car owner.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Crumpled

Working well - 2004 Ford Freestar

Last week, as I was getting ready for a fairly long drive in our old van, I had to think twice about when I last changed the cabin air filter. 2006 maybe? It wasn't very dirty but it had a lot of dust and dead bugs in it and I thought it was more than needed. This filter fits perfectly. Pay attention to the airflow direction of the filter to be removed, as the air should flow in a specific direction. My old one didn't have an airflow dart, but judging by the fact that there were dead bug bits…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Some small things

Great filter for Pontiac GTO 2004, 2005, 2006

GTO. In Australia the vehicle comes with an integrated cabin air filter, but on US models you have to fit it yourself. Of course they won't tell you that. If you do a google search / LS1GTO.COM you will find instructions, it's very easy and won't take you more than 15 minutes. You need to trim the filter a bit at the edge to make it fit perfectly. I use this every time and it's amazing. As other reviewers say, the baking soda actually makes it useful by removing wet odors!

Pros
  • Provides more airflow for better performance and prevents musty odors from building up in the car
Cons
  • Good but not great

Perfect for a 2004 Freestar

I bought this for a 2004 Ford Freestar van which we bought used. It has been abused and neglected and we got it cheaply just to wander around the house on the dirt roads. On our first ride with the kids, we cranked the air up to full blast and a blast of dust blew out of the vents. We actually had to stop, unload and air everyone out as we were all suffocating! This filter was perfect. It was obvious that the cabin air filter in our van had never been changed and it still had the original 2004…

Pros
  • Prevents harmful particles from entering the engine and causing increased engine wear
Cons
  • Low repairability

Late GTO model with the best filters

Like many others here I ordered this for my latest Pontiac GTO. While many on the forums and web claim this is an easy mod, I'll tell you otherwise. It requires some trimming and wedging before it fits in the same area as a useless standard wire mesh filter. Additionally, many of the push studs that hold the rain cover in place cannot be "unscrewed" and must be carefully removed. They can be replaced, but it's still pretty painful. However, my old storage grid was dirty and I can't believe how…

Pros
  • Filters up to 98% of dust, pollen and other contaminants
Cons
  • Not the best

Works better than ATP, great price and good seal

The dealer put on a fun little show to demonstrate how everything works under the hood car was that clean - air filter, oil, everything else - but then I showed them the cabin filter. It was disgusting. I bought this and the smell in the cabin has greatly improved. After purchase I saw "ATP Premium Carbon Cabin Filter" (https://www.amazon.com/ATP-FA-5-Carbon-Activated-Premium/). dp/B000C8P9LK/) is only slightly more expensive so I bought a few of these thinking they would work even better…

Pros
  • Arm & Hammer baking soda combined with charcoal cleans the outside air going through the ventilation system
Cons
  • No power
