Good idea and practical gadget. However, it stopped working after only 3 uses. Apparently the temperature sensor is no longer recognized. Perhaps the cable was pinched by the grill cover, or it failed due to overheating(?). As it is designed to be used with a closed grill I think it should be tolerant of those conditions. I sent it back.

I used it once and the screen never went off, burning 2 sets of batteries. There was no transfer of temperature to the device, so the steak was done. Revain has reduced the return period to 30 days. Now it's winter and a strong storm, and I didn't feel like grilling! So at the end of March, 55 days after purchase, I found that it didn't work and I couldn't return it. I think my local true value would be better!

This worked very well to control the smoking of ribs in my charcoal smoker. The program didn't seem too complicated either. It seems to have many, many settings that can be tricky. But if you want to control various things like timing alarms, time, etc. then this is probably what you need. We used the wireless feature at around 50-100 feet and had no issues.

I really like the cool spot feature on the temperature sensor, especially on thinner cuts of meat. Works very well initially, but not for very long. I've been a smoker for 8 months (have used it a lot) and am on my second. The first got wet and stopped working, so I bought a second one - the cool spot feature stopped working after a few hits. The tip still measures accurately and the remote display is handy for watching the chef from around the house.

Excellent, very accurate and well thought out little product. Batteries last a long time if you remember to turn off the device. The meat comes out perfectly cooked every time I use it. I smoke and roast a lot, even in winter, and with this little device I can confidently follow what I'm roasting or smoking while sitting in my armchair, in my mancake, while watching football. Works well with large cuts of meat like roast ribs, but not so well with small cuts. The probe is approximately 5" long, and for the coldest and hottest functions to work, the probe's cold mark (near the center) must be closer to the center of the meat.
