That's okay. The original "Chip Clip" brand had a soft plastic insert in the jaw to keep it from slipping off smooth plastic bags of potato chips and the like. They're just hard plastic jaws with non-functioning teeth that slip off easily. They're good for on-shelf bags, but not so good for a picnic basket. The bookkeeping economists are on strike again.

I have a drawer full of clips for unopened snack and cereal bags, but this design is by far the best. Others are fakes, but this original works best. The tabs, which you pinch with your fingers to open the clip, are long enough to easily overcome the spring tension. And over time, the jaws do not deform, so the captured area remains full-width. The clip doesn't work either.

Can't rate durability yet as I haven't had them long but as to how durable they are, they aren't as tight and airtight as my ACCO metal clip. Since they're not very wide (about their average size), so in big bags like potato chips or even Fritos snacks you get at 7-11 or at the gas station (not baby packs, which I don't buy). so I can't speak), I don't know how effective they will be.
