Reduces PCB Solder Melting Temperature

ChipQuik is a really good eutectic solder that lowers the melting temperature of PCB solder and makes component removal a lot easier.

Pros
  • One Year Trial
Cons
  • No.

You have to be careful what you use it for. .

You have to be careful what you use it with. With some solder masks, you end up doing more damage to objects than you can safely remove components. Buyers be careful.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • No automatic

Works better than expected

Bought to remove chips from solid state pinball machines. I saw a video about this on YouTube and decided to give it a try. It worked wonderfully. Using a solder wick with this product is also highly recommended.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Nothing

These are amazing things. Removing the SMD was just as easy.

This is an amazing thing. It was just as easy to remove the SMD parts as they advertise. While I didn't have to reuse the parts I unsoldered, I think I could have thanks to the care I took in removing them.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • High price

Works great with keys but not membranes

I bought this product to repair my old Amiga keyboard. I applied the product to the rubber pads of the dead keys to flatten the surface. After drying they worked great. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about fixing traces on the membrane itself. No matter how I use this material, it doesn't work. I assume this works for the buttons because you put some pressure on them so they touch, but not for those markings on the membrane.

Pros
  • Welders and Accessories
Cons
  • weak

Use very cautiously in welding equipment

Although this product performs exactly as described, it may not meet your expectations. Since the solder takes some time to cool down, it can easily get into places you don't want. I had to clean the adjacent chip a lot more than if I was just using my old technique.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful

It works for welding and soldering

I needed to replace the surface mount mini USB connector on an Arduino Nano. I followed the directions, first applying the flux and then melting the alloy on all the pins and grommets. With a little extra heat, the old part popped out immediately. It is important to remove any remaining residue, otherwise it will interfere with re-soldering. That saved me from purchasing an expensive SMD soldering station.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Not sure

The thing works! A real rescue for PCBs.

It really works! A bit on the wires and the part came off the board without damaging the msop8 or the board. The kit includes *everything* you need with the possible exception of a solder wick. I recommend using some of the included flux and wick to remove old solder before applying ChipQuik solder. You don't need a lot of solder, just a dab on the leads to get the part off the board.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Quick start guide
