Works great, bright LED display

I installed it as a charging port/socket on an old camper van. Attached it by making a simple flat panel that replaced the old radio. Great idea to add a digital voltmeter. When my son was using the motorhome he was having trouble charging the battery and I was able to advise him from across the country on what to expect in terms of readings and when to be concerned. This camper is being sold but I will be installing another in my diesel shifter.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Out of fashion

Ham Radio Desktop or Boat

A very useful 12VDC outlet where convenience and reliability are valued. One of these has been on my pontoon boat for a few seasons, this one makes sense on my ham radio remote to charge and power items other than radios. With the voltage display, you can quickly check the status of the battery and power supply. The switch is required to prevent the 5VDC converter and LED display from draining power when not in use. I removed one of the weather covers that are not needed indoors.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Nice unit - but read this!

The instrument looks and works well. I installed it in my golf cart and it worked flawlessly. Attention - the schematic is loaded from the back of the device. It snaps and doesn't hold in place with much force. It takes a bit of force to push the circuit out from the back and the block needs to be removed to reinstall the board and connector. The fix is simple - just glue the attachment points with superglue or something similar. No more trouble.

Perfect fit for my DIY console

I welded the center console for my 84 CJ7. I have a dual battery configuration and the required power connections are powered by the second battery as well as a second voltmeter. That was excellent. I now have a 12V outlet and two USB outlets and a voltmeter showing the second battery because that on the dash only shows the main battery. I left the 12V outlet "hot" the whole time, but connected the USB and voltmeter ports via the included toggle switch. Otherwise they would be constantly hot…

Great upgrade

I drive a 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser and as I don't smoke I only use the cigarette lighter for phone charging and small electronics. Since almost all small electronic devices now use the USB standard for charging, I immediately ordered one to replace the cigarette lighter socket. The installation required a bit of work as I had to enlarge the hole in the dashboard and because it's recessed (just my truck's design) I had to cut the four edges of the charger's outer panel myself and I couldn't use…

almost perfect fit for the RZR?

I was planning on replacing the 12 volt plug on my RZR with something I would actually use. Simply pull on the dashboard (bonnet open, 2 Torx T40 screws under the hood, dashboard fastened with clips to the rear). Pulled 2 wires from the factory cigarette socket and then pushed this factory socket out of the dash. First problem; The pin/outlet of the + or - cable of the new device is not the same size as the factory one. The factory has a small tab, a normal tab. The new block are both normal…

Smooth install on a 2006 Ford Focus ZX4

I installed this on a 2006 Ford Focus by replacing the stock cigarette lighter socket. With a little help from Youtube I removed the radio/HVAC console bezel, freed the cigarette lighter, clipped the included quick connect terminals to the orphaned electrical wires, installed the charging module into the cigarette lighter mounting hole (no drama) and plugged in the wires . to the specified module (observing polarity, of course) and returned the front panel to its place. In total I spent about…

Works well and loads quickly.

Installed this socket on my old 2002 Honda CRV to replace the cigarette lighter/socket in the front of the car. Installation was very easy and I didn't have to make any modifications to the plastic fairings. Fits like a glove. The hardest part of the whole installation was figuring out how to disassemble my car's trim pieces! After installing it in the fairing, I simply plugged in the standard cigarette lighter plugs, reinstalled all the dash hardware, started the car and the blue Cllena plug…
