Alloy steel for hardness and durability. Protect with transparent plastic awl cover. Features wood handle great for use at home, camp, farm, and much more. Suitable for light use

Less than I thought and that's ok but the point is during my Time canceled first use in a photo frame project. I don't know what "alloy steel" means in the context of these dies, but they aren't very durable.

Pros
  • For punching holes, marking and marking lines on paper, fabric, wood, plastic and laminate surfaces
Cons
  • Can I add anything

Looks good to me! for sewing tools

They are very nicely made, good quality but not as sharp as they could be. A few minutes with a good whetstone can fix it. The steel seems to be of good quality and springy so it doesn't bend easily, it seems attached to the handle well. Despite their small size, they are easy to hold and feel good.

Pros
  • Wooden handle is ideal for use at home, camping, on the farm and many other occasions
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Love it!: Haberdashery & Sewing Supplies

I don't know what I've been doing without them for so long. I use it for many things: gently sliding fabrics under the presser foot, drilling holes for hand-sewn loops, pulling up the bobbin thread. The only thing I wish was that the handle had a flat surface so it wouldn't roll around (although since it's wood you could probably sand it down and do it yourself). Very handy tool - take it!

Pros
  • Haberdashery & Sewing Supplies
Cons
  • Damaged

perfect for bookbinding

I was looking for an inexpensive awl for a bookbinding project and these (two of them!) fit perfectly. Ultra sharp and seamless for perforating book board and multi-page stacks. I love that the awl is tapered so you can punch a variety of hole sizes, and it's sharp enough that you don't have to have absurd fun. I'm not an awl expert, but this worked great for me.

Great little awl suitable for sewing tools

Finally I used this awl for the first time to make a sheath for a carving spoon knife. It was easy to punch through the thin composite deer/pig skin I used to make phone cases. I actually had to punch holes twice because two layers of leather try to close after the first punch. Nice that there are two awls in the package. I can leave one in my desk drawer at home and carry one in my small leather tool box that I keep in a small aluminum drawer. I like that it doesn't take up much space because…

Pros
  • Tailor's awl
Cons
  • Something else
