Description of π Coghlan's 7-Function Binoculars for Kids
Durable, kid-friendly binoculars with seven separate functions for looking and learning. Includes compass, magnifying glass, spyglass, signal mirror, stereoscope, and double magnifier. Affordable, essential gear for camping, backpacking, backcountry treks, and more.
This item is made very cheaply. The lenses are too loose. When you open them they don't stay in place, making them almost useless as binoculars unless you hold them perfectly horizontal. Definitely poorly made compared to what I had as a kid. My son loves it but I will never buy it again because it's so thin. Don't expect it to last long.
First off, you should know that this is a toy that won't take a lot of abuse. However, it is a fun little gadget to give to a child when on a camping trip. We went camping with a group of toddlers and I gave this away as a game prize. It was a big hit with all the kids and my own kids have been begging for theirs ever since. It seems "high tech" to them because of all the moving/foldable parts. As long as you think of it as a toy and not a serious device, you'll be happy with your purchase.
The biggest problem with this toy is that it is VERY plastic, so to speak. It looks very fragile and I expect kids to break it sooner or later (probably sooner than later). On the 2nd day one of the lenses fell off; I tried to glue it back but I wasn't careful enough and the glue touched the surface of the lens. Since the lens is also made of plastic, it was irreversibly damaged, so at that moment the binoculars turned into a monocular. Although kids (3.5 years old) like the thing. You carry it
