These brackets were used to attach two ladders to the wall of a house. Previously, the stairs were on the lawn near the property line. They got in the way of mowing and were littered with debris whenever they were needed. Now the ladders hang on the wall of the house with these brackets, do not touch the ground and remain relatively clean.

I bought these to clear some ladders off the garage floor and out of the way. I screwed them straight into the rivets, I made two "levels" and the two I got them for are quite long so they hang lengthwise. I mounted them high enough to be out of the way, but not so high that I needed a ladder to get them down. I use a lot of these hooks. Above the garage door I used two of these to hold some poles. I have many of these large ones that I use on some of our stairs. Those are great hooks. I ordered them because I recently worked up the courage to drill through the cinder block that makes up the two walls of the garage.
