which is probably due to poor workmanship

The type of rubber mold used to make them is. You can try trimming or shaving them, but it's still not a smooth tip. Unfortunately, this property, probably due to poor workmanship, makes these tools unsuitable for [polymer clay] modeling.

Pros
  • Ceramic and ceramic
Cons
  • No automatic

Rough silicone seams on large instruments.

The two larger shapers had very rough, uneven silicone seams on the rounded side that left large streaks on my clay when I tried to smooth it out. I asked a question here about how to gently remove them (after trying to remove them with a sharp X-Acto knife and a buffing tool on a Dremel) and I never got an answer. Not recommended if you need a rounded end for a clean shape.

Pros
  • Porcelain and Porcelain Tools
Cons
  • Not as thick as other cutters

Excellent - really practical and useful.

It's great. Really good mix of medium hard rubber tips to work well on soft to hard clays. Compared to the cost of other rubber formers, this is a steal! And handy since most people only use one or two shapers and you can get various tips here. Professional or beginner sculptors should buy these and will probably never need another shaper, but if they do, just buy another set at this price.

Pros
  • Power
Cons
  • Very expensive
