Large 3.75 Ounce Almond Shaving Soap by Col. Conk Review

Well I've used some cheap brands of shaving soap in the past and in some ways it's been better. This soap is not "slimy" as I can put it, which means the soap lathers very lightly and doesn't necessarily lubricate the razor very well. No amount of whipping seems to thicken the foam past a certain point, and changing the water content of the brush to use as little as possible doesn't help either. I do shave in the shower, though, so you can feel the difference if you shave in the sink instead.

Terrible chemical smell reminiscent of roach spray. The shape of the puck was not suitable for a shaving mug. Tried it as a hand soap and it stung my skin. Can be used as a car degreaser.

A few years ago I gave up "modern" shaving products and switched to simpler products. A double blade safety razor, a shaving brush and some shaving soap like this is much cheaper to use and gives me a better overall shave. Almond Soap Col. Conk is an absolute favorite. It lathers easily on my brush, feels great on the skin, protects against razor burn and has a lovely sweet but very subtle scent. With this size I can shave for four to six months. A good thing.
