Easier to use, good for housing

I like that this mounting plate looks like a regular downlight housing with brackets that attach to both wooden beams. Some of the competitors, like Lithonia's mount, only mount on one side.

Pros

Ideal for false ceilings.

We use these to support 6 inch LED recessed lights in very thin 2 x 4 foot false ceiling panels. No "may" is required. They worked great and didn't let the false ceiling panels sag. I also used them to install additional recessed lighting in the exposed beam portion of the basement. The seller processed the order quickly, the goods came in good condition.

The product was EXACTLY what I needed to mount 3 inch low profile downlights.

The mounting plates were just what I needed to install 3 inch low profile lights in the cathedral's sloping ceiling. And they arrived earlier than promised, which was another plus. BUT they were poorly packaged and were VERY dented and deformed in the box. There was no visible damage to the outside of the packaging. And she only had half the mounting hardware with her. Luckily, they were thin enough to be modified and installed manually. And a trip to Lowes for additional hardware to replace…
