Self assembled. I am a 64 year old woman. It was pretty easy, but I flipped the two pieces over and had to take them completely apart to swap the two pieces. I think the instructions could better draw attention to this requirement.

I originally bought a glass/chrome side table for my new apartment that I didn't see. I bought the coffee table later so I bought this table a year later to replace the glass/chrome table. Love it! Now all my countertops are the same color. It's strong and well made.

Missing parts prevented installation of the bottom shelf which was one of the reasons I bought the shelf. I contacted the company but they never shipped the right piece. So we got a side table with only the top shelf because it was too late to return it. I opened the package a few months after receiving it so it's my fault. I will never order from this company again.

The table top was stained but not properly wiped around the edges. NOT experienced. and it should have been noticed in the quality control department. The wiping was uneven. and since I could NOT screw in 1 screw and it was painful to assemble, I didn't. But as said, LEARN TO COLOR THE WIPE and have the product checked by an expert to make sure the consumer is happy.
