Description of ๐Ÿ• Cook N Home 14-inch Round Pizza Grilling Baking Stone, Cream - 5/8-inch thickness

Made of true cordierite which has passed US FDA and German food Code LFGB and RoHS compliances. Heat safe up to 2000 degrees Fahrenheit with no odor and excellent thermal shock resistance. Gives you the same crispy crust as pizzas baked in brick lined commercial ovens. Cordierite stones retain heat and transfer heat evenly while extracting and absorbing moisture from the baking food thus creating the best crispy crust. Hand wash in clean water after baking stone cools. Use Wood or plastic Scraper to remove excess food. Not dishwasher safe. Never use soap and detergent.

Great stone for pizza. in baking tins

Does what it says on the tin - I've made a few pizzas with sourdough and this stone helps crisp up the crust and keep the oven temperature stable. The size is perfect and it's a good weight so it won't slip when you take a hot pizza out of the oven.

  • Great for a small home

Good heavy stone great for baking bread and homemade pizza

Although I only received it 1 day ago I used it 3 times to try. First pizza, calzone and 2 loaves of sourdough bread. No weird smell like others have said. It's a bit thicker than my previous stone, which broke fairly quickly. I plan to try it on my Kamado Joe that was cooked up this weekend. Will report whether good or bad.

Terrible smell is good for a casserole dish

The stone I've had for years cracked so I bought it as a replacement. I like how thick the stone is and it works as it should. However, it gives off a terrible smell! I have never experienced that with any porcelain stoneware. I baked at 500ยฐ for 1 hour as directed and preheated etc. Have used it 3 times and the door is still so tight - open windows and powerful fans! I'm worried it's safe?

Huge but fits in your oven.

This one is HUGE. I have a regular size wall oven and it fits perfectly. FYI, preheat your oven to 500 and leave it in there for another 10-15 minutes. Just because the air in the kiln is 500 doesn't mean the stone. Let the stone heat up to 500 and you'll have a great crispy crust. If you really want to invent, use a pizza peel as well, then you don't need oven mitts ;) Also read the seasoning instructions. I think it's 500 an hour before your first cook (it's a must).

  • Finally bought

Specified thickness is incorrect

Spec says 0.50 inch. I received 0.37 inch stones. Cook n Home was contacted first as the enclosed card asking for it to be sent - no reply - was forced to put it into operation making the return unjustified. Quality is good (no idea why "easy to clean" in the review list as using stone cleaners is bad). Bought because of the thickness. Since Cook n Home never responded, I have no idea they even have .50 inch thick stones. PS: They do their job, but when it comes to stones, the thicker theโ€ฆ

They are larger in diameter than my 30 year old ceramic squares.

Make sure you can push the stone in 40 cm and close the door. I bought these so that I can now make homemade pizza on a pizza turner and place them on round 16 inch round stones right away. Some people don't get good results and that's because they don't know what they're doing. You should preheat each oven with a stone in it, then add an extra hour to preheat both the stone and the oven. a metal pizza turner that fell off the stone.

  • practical item

  • infinitely slow

Looks like a good stone but gets dirty easily.

I've used this stone to make pizza a couple of times. I also plan to use it for bread. Looks very durable and high quality. The pizza bases are crispy and delicious. I followed the instructions the first time I used it and I never had a smell like the others. I even asked my wife for her opinion because she seems to have a crazy sense of smell and she didn't notice anything. The biggest problem I have is coloring after one use. And it keeps getting worse every time I use it. I don't know ifโ€ฆ
