I'm blown away - Radios

If there are problems or not, I'll know. This is by far the best weather radio I've ever had. I bought it specifically for tornado season which is quite annoying when we live at that time of year. All other weather radios contain all events, including those that occur hundreds of miles away. Hopefully, and I think it is, it will be more geographically specific. although I'm not sure how to do that. It's compact and has a lot of nice features.

Pros
  • Sturdy finishes
Cons
  • Too long to wait

Well built not a cheap model

seems to be very well built, I've had other portable radios where I could program warnings to only activate them for certain districts, I don't think that's an option here, but it's a great backup weather radio for when I'm working in my garage and something bad is on the way. And I don't think anyone will have any hearing problems with the alarm going off when that volume is cranked up. It takes a lot to get me started, but I almost had a heart attack the first time I heard the weather radioโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Quick replacement
Cons
  • Almost everything ok

As the title suggests, the speaker sound quality is below average compared to other NOAA weather radios. Not compared to FM quality but compared to other NOAA radio stations. Secondly, I was disappointed to find that it was not possible to snooze/mute the radio between NOAA alerts. When you're on the NOAA band, the incessant chatter will force you to turn off or change bands to stop the incessant chatter. This results in the radio being always on but in standby mode until alarmed. AM is useless

Pros
  • Regular Price
Cons
  • Fair

Poor reception, constant atmospheric noise

There are 2 other different brands of weather radios that work great in rural areas. Purchased for the "Tornado Only" alarm feature. Constant static background hiss when turned on, no noise canceling control to make it quiet when there is no reception. And it doesn't even pick up our local weather frequency unless you stop at the next hill. All of our other brands of weather radio have excellent in-house reception of our local Noaa channel. Constant static, no reception, very short antenna, noโ€ฆ

Bad quality, disappointing.

I bought this radio because I wanted to try it and it had some features that others didn't have. The results were and are disappointing. to my other radio. FM reception isn't much better. AM reception is very poor. Thing is, I can't hear my local station. It just buzzes. There is nothing special about the flashlight. I think it's better than nothing. It has message encoding for specific areas and will accept alerts when reception is decent. Code or codes you have set. (Contrary to theโ€ฆ

Disappointed with performance

As my still working Radio Shack Weather Radio is over 30 years old I purchased this product to add to my existing radio and as a possible replacement. With the antenna fully extended, with and without using the power supply, I could not see the NOAA frequency anywhere in my house, even when placed next to my Radio Shack and tuned to the same NOAA frequency. All I got was noise and maybe a word or two being transmitted. I left my area to climb higher and near the NOAA transmission towers toโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
