CTA Tools 2112 Spring Compressor Review

Tried to choose between 3 or 4 stars as the tool seems decent. However, I was not used. I bought it for Audi/Volkswagen 2.8L 30 valve V6 intake valves. The intake valves are really small and the smallest adapter in this kit was too big. I returned it. So don't buy because of the 5 valve head. Although it will probably work fine for other applications.

Decent tool, does the job. Valve stem seals replaced on Jetta 2.0. (AEG), while the tool performed acceptably, there are a few things that could have significantly improved performance. Bushings will be first. The tool connections are loose, which allows for quite a bit of "play". Forcing the tool to spin out of alignment and pop out, I loosened the valve springs and hurled the janitor's lock into the empty space. The second would be to make different variations of the hook side.

I bought this hoping it would fit a specific ball head I needed to remove the valve springs in my car. It worked well for this job. But the next day I had to do a Volvo valve repair and it was amazing. Using the grappling hook, which was one of the tools, I was able to quickly move to the next valve. For $80 I didn't expect to have to buy another valve spring tool to finish the job. This is a European valve spring compression tool sold by FCP Euro and should be a tool for MANY different European makes and models including a VW/Audi 20v 1.8t head. However, it lacked a spring pusher small enough to compress the intake valves. I had to buy a second motorcycle valve tool, the cheapest I could find on eBay, to finish the job.
