Tool is useless for adjusting spark plug gap

Spark plugs changed on V8. The forks needed very little adjustment out of the box. Only on the second connector, when I tried to bend the electrode down by just 0.001, the tool just bent like cardboard. I've had these bugs before, I know they're cheap, but they've never crumpled so quickly or been such a waste of money. It doesn't help you to know the distance if you can't set it.

Pros
  • Solid surface
Cons
  • Slightly dented

Do Not Buy.: Tools & Equipment

When I first used it it turned out to be the worst gapper I have ever used. I did not get 1 plug release with it. I was looking for a replacement for all the old ones I've abused over the past 60 years. I believed that this new would be a shining light. So what have I done? Of course I threw away all my old gappers. They all still worked, but I wanted to update my toolbox. What a mistake I made. After the garbage was collected, I tried a new one. If I could, I would kick myself in the gluteus…

Broke after seven spark plug adjustments.

I have a spark plug gauge from the 1940's and it still works great. However, it does not rise to 0.045-0.050. So I bought this CTA sensor. First, it's not easy on the hands when you have to adjust each fork like I did. never mind The problem, however, is that the regulator is made of soft metal and bent on both sides and then broke. On initial adjustment I thought the entire lug of the adjuster would bend and then break. After seven plugs, both sides of the regulator were broken. I couldn't…

Suitable tool for adjusting the gap of modern spark plugs

Suitable tool for checking/adjusting the spark plug gap. While it doesn't have a full range of gauges, it does cover most "normal" gaps. I rated it 4 out of 5 stars based on the price as I feel the price is a bit high for what you are buying. The product seems sturdy enough to do its job. I've used it on two sets of forks so far and all is good. With this tool you can successfully adjust iridium and platinum spark plugs without damage as long as they do not come in contact with the center…
