This is a simple hand mixer. There are only three speeds: fast, faster, and "throw the dough into the next room". There is no low speed, so make sure the beaters are in the bowl and upright before turning on the mixer. Wire beaters and high power do a good job of beating lumps. All surfaces of the fitting that are prone to splashing water are smooth and easy to clean. For a cheap mixer with 3 speeds, this is simply great. The low speed is quite high if you want to mix dry flour powder with liquids - expect flying dust. I have found that stirring the mixer (off) just a little helps to start the mixing process. Then I turn it on low and give the bowl a quick stir and the mixture blends together pretty quickly.
