D-Link DWL-AG132 USB 2.0 Compact Wireless Adapter

Well I thought this product was good based on some other reviews but I am very disappointed. Divers caused a blue screen on two different PCs (Windows XP SP2). This product is so new that Dlink doesn't even have drivers on their website (drivers come on a CD). As usual, the DLINK software version 5 is required for proper operation!

Pros
  • Looks great
Cons
  • Secret

Blue Screen of Death on USB Hardware.

When a USB stick or device draws more current than the USB port can supply (typically 500mA), a blue screen will appear, especially on laptops. an acceleration algorithm that can consume more than the USB port can give, so an error occurs. So if you don't want your computer/laptop to turn blue, don't use Super-G mode. I think 5GHz router users should have such a backup adapter handy. .

Pros
  • 1-year trial version
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Dlink loves constant crashes (blue screen!)

My Windows XP system was very stable and fast. Ever since I installed this 802.11 adapter, I've been getting blue screens all the time when actively surfing the web. If I just leave the computer running with the connection enabled but NOT using the connection, the blue screens appear infrequently. To make matters worse, my computer somehow even crashes when I plug in other USB devices (I correctly unplug the devices by telling Windows to eject them). This never happened before installing this…

Pros
  • A dream come true

Performance is ok but could be better

I've seen "Blue Screen of Death" a few times but it doesn't happen all the time. Can't complain too much about the product considering I bought it from Fry's Electronics for $19 after receiving a mail-in rebate. I needed a USB adapter because the PCMIA card interface failed. Pros:::(.)* The extension cord is a nice addition. Although you don't need it for the AG132, it works for other USB devices as well. The AG132 is a bit bulkier than most other USB devices, so USB ports can get a bit tight…

Pros
  • Always liked it
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
