Not exactly 5 stars for the best networking products

Have these adapters (bought two) in the Bought hope that the wireless connection to my remote computer would be less likely to drop, but I was a bit disappointed that performance, while good, was still not much better than older technology. This adapter works well but not to a five star level. However, it is recommended. good bang for the buck.

Pros
  • New integrated 2XR technology offers faster speeds and greater range - up to 8x faster and 8x further than standard 802.11g
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Don't stamp your feet, don't sneeze, or slam the door.

We have over 50 of these cards at work and 4 at home I've never seen a more "fragile" PCI card. If you slam the door or stomp near the PC, this card may stop working on the next reboot. God forbid you try to move the tower. A day later, someone has a faulty card that needs to be moved, removed and reinserted, or otherwise repaired. If it works, the connection is usually good.

Pros
  • Fully compatible with 802.11b and 802.11g
Cons
  • Hard to remember, but it was

practically unusable

Does not stay in the PCI slot. Any vibration of the PC case will shut it down and make it unusable. If you're lucky, you'll "just" need a reboot, otherwise you'll have to unplug and plug it back in (sometimes multiple times) for it to work. The wireless signal looked fine for the brief moments it stayed connected to the PCI slot. But you won't enjoy it for long.

Pros
  • Built-in MIMO Smart Antenna technology for optimal radio coverage and reception
Cons
  • So far so good
