Full-range sound good for home audio

An audio reviewer on CNET left a lot of positive feedback on the Dayton speakers. I needed a relatively inexpensive center channel for a 5.0 theater system. Most of the money is spent on the receiver and main woofers. This speaker has pretty good full range sound for the price.

Regular Price - Center Channel Speaker

I purchased this speaker because I had problems with muffled dialog from my 5 year old Infinity Primus front speakers. I thought the third way might help. I tried simply replacing the Infinity Center speaker with this one, but it lacked range and size. So I added it alongside Infinity, and it helps give the dialogue extra punch. Probably ok for a small room.

Good product for the price.

Well I'm not a speaker or sound expert so I have to say it sounds good as a recorder listening to my surround sound. I replaced the old center speaker with it, it sounds better. I am happy with my purchase. I also replaced the front and rear speakers with Dayton bookshelves last year. As long as they sound good and without problems. It cannot be hung on a shelf unless you drill holes in the mounting bracket.

An unrivaled speaker in this price range.

Very good center speaker for its price range. I was looking for a decent speaker to place under the TV in my living room to get more sound, and also to pair with an old set of left and right speakers I already have. It was the perfect match. The quality in relation to the price deserves 5 stars. I wouldn't use it with a high end surround sound system. But I wouldn't buy a 50€ speaker either. Handles any noise and volume I throw at it.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance

Good-sounding mid-range driver for all systems

Big mid-range driver. I'm using it with a Pioneer VSX-1021K receiver and have noticed a huge difference from the Samsung speakers I've hooked up in the past. Especially when watching movies with lots of bass or listening to R&B/Hip Hop it seems to add richness to the music, especially heavy beats. It's also very cheap. If I had one complaint it would be a bit cheap build quality but the performance makes up for it. I highly recommend it!

This was necessary to fit the existing hole in the IKEA Besta wardrobe

Very surprised and happy with it! They sound neutral and strike a great balance between furniture maker aesthetics and sound quality. Added SAT-BK and SUB-1000 satellites to connect to Boston Acoustics Horizon Series network, also rated at 89dB at 1W. This solved the problem of limited mounting options (less than 5 inches) in an otherwise excellent cantilever package. The smaller size and incredible price won over ego and brand loyalty. Also check out the Energy XT and Klipsch Reference HT…

Best in Center Channel

Perfect addition to my 5.1 TV sound system. My previous center channel was just a general purpose full range speaker. It competed with the most important front speakers, especially in the speech area. That makes the voices crystal clear. The music is better too, especially the brass. Even with loud films, the speaker is not overloaded. I think its performance is due to the "three-sided" design (vs. "two-sided"). In addition, the loudspeakers are guided around a small curve that distributes the…

Amazing Center Channel

The design of this center channel is excellent. The sounds produced are crisp and clear. I like the dual 4" midrange drivers with a 1" tweeter and a super piezo tweeter. It adds great sound at low volume and sounds better at high volume. The building fabric is very well done. So like the connectors on the speaker you're used to, you can use banana plugs if you want something more. I like the curved look of the speaker. Give it more aesthetics as well as sound distribution. In my opinion one of…

This is a speaker. Not too expensive. does the job.

I have a fairly inconsistent 5.1 setup made up mostly of speakers I bought at a thrift store. Aside from the subwoofer ($100), I've never spent more than $5 on a single speaker. I bought the Dayton to replace the very muted center channel speaker as it can be the most important speaker in the set if you don't want subtitles all the time. While I'm not thrilled with the sound, it works and seems to go well with my home theater! I'm giving it 4 stars because it suits my needs and I'm happy, but I
