Dell 240W Watt 3WN11 H240AS-00 2TXYM 709MT Power Supply Unit: Efficient and Reliable Performance Review

This article would be decent if it weren't for the fact that the AC connector isn't to spec. The pins have almost no OEM thickness and hold the power cord very poorly. Unplugging the power cord requires minimal effort, meaning it's too easy to turn off the device while it's doing something important. The power supply was nicely packaged in an anti-static bag. When I opened the package I smelled a strong odor of burnt electronics which alarmed me. Swapped it out for my bad one and found the black/yellow wires were shorter than pictured, enough that I had trouble routing them as they originally were. I read another review that said the 3 pin main power cable on the PSU was a bit loose and mine seemed to be the same. It works, so overall I'm satisfied.

The product itself solves the original problem, but not the problem that caused the power supply to burn out. I don't know what's causing the problem, but I've read that these types of Dell computers are notorious for burning out PSUs. It must be a mainframe engineering problem. I'm not a computer hacker, but this can be frustrating. Until then I would suggest buying them 2 at a time so you have one on hand to replace without having to wait for one to be delivered.
