Oh my god I LOVE this thing! I've never used ink pens. That's great. You can draw like with a pencil. Then paint over it with water like with a watercolor pencil. BUT WAIT. It dries like INK and doesn't wash off like watercolor. You can use another wet medium over it again! Very cool. TO ATTEMPT.

I love these pens! It is very nice to paint with different shades and then mix them with water. The colors are super bright. I bought several sets of Christmas gifts for different people. They work especially well with water-filled brushes for clean painting for little artists; Nevertheless, these are high-quality pencils for the most experienced artists who can create true masterpieces! Highly recommended!

My son's art teacher specifically requested Derwent watercolor pencils for class. Ordered these by mistake. I contacted Derwent and asked if I could return it because it was an ink pen and not a watercolor. The support rep immediately agreed but told me to ask the art teacher first as she figured the teacher would probably think this pencil would do. My son showed it to his teacher and she said it was fine so I didn't have to return it.
