Great pens! pictured

I would give my new colored pencils 5 stars if there wasn't a problem. When they arrived I checked that all the pencils were there. They were, but there was a problem with a pencil. I received TWO "#10 Orange Chrome" pencils and a ZERO "#9" pencil. I don't know what color pencil #9 is because it's missing, but it's yellow-orange. I called the seller several times and was told they were having trouble getting additional studio pencils but they would replace the missing pencil as new sets arrive.

Pros
  • quick change
Cons
  • I say nothing

I personally love these pins. These are hard pins. If you draw on thin paper, this is not for you. They have their uses, like small parts and the like. You may know that these are the same colors as the Artist 72ct. But you should know that Derwent's watercolors are also exactly the same colors. They are much easier to work with on dry, thin paper and the colors are slightly more intense when dry. If you have to decide to only buy 2 of 3 I recommend the artist and the watercolor. The watercolor

Perfect pencils, perfect box

New design wooden box. Instead of separate compartments, a hinged box with pens on each side. Each side has compartments for individual pens and each side is protected by a removable wooden strip that attaches with powerful magnets. Leads hold the point for detailing, but they're also great for applying nice, rich color. The wires are protected in the box by foam tape. This wooden box is an update for Studio and Coloursoft; It's more expensive than the earlier version, but I think it's worth…

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • For old

Oooo look at all the colors man!

I actually prefer Verithins, but I wanted the wider Derwents color space. I usually do the heavy lifting with Prismacolor Premiers and then neaten the edges with harder cores. So instead of having a color that almost matches, the wider palette allows me to get closer to the base color. Also, I just love lots of colors. LAUGH OUT LOUD. If you are unfamiliar with harder cores, remember that if you press too hard, they can leave a groove in the paper. Sometimes it's good, sometimes not. The only…

Fur: Dirty dust, wide lead, difficult to get an accurate point.

I bought these pencils hoping to get thin, hard graphite pencils in a wider range of colors than Verithin's Prismacolor range for use with adult coloring books. Unfortunately not comparable. Studio pencils have the same hardness as Verithins but a MUCH wider lead. This makes it difficult to get such a thin tip and eats A LOT more wood in the process (see picture). Studio pencils also inexplicably produce a lot of pigment dust, which I'm not a fan of and haven't encountered with other pencils…

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging

My new favorite colored pencil

Received today. Even though they were already sharpened, I wanted a thinner tip, so I sharpened each one with the manual sharpener I use with all my crayons. Three pencil leads from a 12-piece set broke while sharpening. Bad start if 1/4 of the pins are defective. To be fair, the breakage is probably not a manufacturing issue - they were probably mishandled during the shipping process. Revain always packs art supplies separately in boxes without adequate padding. Shippers toss, toss, and hit…

Pros
  • Colors can be mixed and layered again and again
Cons
  • So far so good

I have Prismacolor Premier Veratins in 36 shades, but as this variety doesn't mix or layer well I bit the bullet and this one bought the more color variety . I was very disappointed in them for several reasons. I bought these as I needed a thin line of paint to color in some very complicated mandala designs. (The lines are so tight I sometimes have to use a magnifying glass!) Since blending with them doesn't work, and even if it would increase the width of the line, I needed over 36 color…

Pros
  • Sharpens to a fine, durable point that won't crumble with use
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

DETAILS! Tips that stay sharp! layering! Did I mention DETAILS?

DERWENT STUDIO colored pencils are PROFESSIONAL ARTISTIC quality colored pencils with the HARDEST colored lead. They are not suitable for students and are no worse in quality than Derwent ColourSoft or Prismacolor Premier Derwent ARTIST is softer than Studios and represents their medium/soft lead. Derwent COLORSOFT is the softest and creamiest of their colored pencils. and made for a professional artist. STUDIO should not be compared to soft leads as they are for DETAILS. Soft leads require…

Pros
