Good for attaching strap

I bought this to mount a tripod for a 300mm lens. I added a quick connector to the back holes so the strap I use connects there and to the camera while still being able to attach to my monopod. Works exactly how I wanted it.

Pros
  • Bought finally
Cons
  • too dull

I was looking for a 90mm lens plate and this was the closest I could find although I think I could get a longer one and it cut to desired length. hmm... . Anyway I have found these inserts to work great and I have used them with a number of the more expensive bushings and clamps and they work just as well as the higher priced inserts sold by the top names.

Great price for a well machined and finished panel.

I bought this plate for my new 300mm f4.0 mount. 85mm was enough for me to hit the center point of my ballhead, with or without the battery grip attached to the body. The fit and finish is good and the finish feels solid too. If the length suits your needs, this is a good solution at an affordable price. I recommend it to anyone who needs it.

Pros
  • understandable even to the old
Cons
  • band

I am very impressed with the quality of this insert. I have many tablets from RRS, Kirk, Acratech and others and this one is 95% as good at a very reasonable price. I would have liked the anti-rotation device to be a little higher, but otherwise I think it's great. I like the D-ring screw as it can be used even if I forget the hex wrench. I will definitely be purchasing more Desmond products in the future.

Functionality and good price

I have three Desmond cymbals and they are all more than adequate in terms of functionality. The fit and finish is more than adequate, and it's certainly as solid as any camera or tripod head. High quality inserts from RRS, Kirk and others are beautifully finished and very pleasing to the eye, but they offer no real functional advantages over Desmond inserts. I appreciate fine craftsmanship, but the price difference is too big to ignore. After all, I'm much more interested in what it looks like…

Great value for money camera mounts and clips

I fitted this 85mm QR plate to my 70-200 f2.8 telephoto mount ring. This long length allowed me to perfectly balance this setup on a tripod while my 60mm plate could not. The standard 1/4-20 machine screw has a larger head (hence a socket/screwdriver slot) than on my 60mm plate, but makes no difference when mounting the plate - just more durable. Supplied with 2 set screws and an Allen key for tightening or removal. As far as possible I use it on an Arca compatible screw mount and have had no…

Decent tablet, good bargain

Bought for Nikon 200-500 lens. Everything was fine at first, although I had concerns about the bracket on the mounting screw. I would prefer Allen's head. I've gotten away once so far. I'm not sure I would hang a string there. It only fits one way, backwards (for me the lip needs to be in the front), no big deal except the lip is a bit shorter than I'd like. I also have a Desmound DPL-70 on my Tammy 70-200 2.8 and it still fits, but the lip is also a bit short. Back to the DPL-85, I now have a…

Excellent quality, works great with Arca screw clamp tripod head

At first I thought I should only buy RRS products. However, I decided to try it because it is cheaper than RRS products. I'm glad I made this decision. The quality of this record is close to RRS and works great. I see no problem with that. I use it in an arc-shaped tripod head with a screw clamp, which means you turn the knob to tighten the head clamp on this plate. I haven't tried this plate in a lever clamp, so I can't confirm if it's an "exact" fit; Not to mention that some lever tension…
