Nice looking part, but definitely not a 1/4 NPT. It is measured as a straight thread. I screwed in a 1/4 NPT thread to get the right size.

Said they were 1/4 NPT but mated to a 1/4 male they wouldn't even screw in and when they tried to pull the male out they pulled the strings out with it.

Should have read the other reviews and not just looked at the star rating. Of course, this is not a tapered thread, ie NOT NPT (National Pipe TAPER). This plug is NPS (National Pipe STRAIGHT). So of course useless.

Bought these for an aluminum fuel tank I'm building and while I don't see any quality issues the threads are straight not tapered so won't work with NPT fittings. It's a shame because they would be perfect with their unobtrusive handling.

This product does not have a 1/4 NPT thread. The NPT threads are tapered, they were just 1/4-18 straight thread inserts. It was a real pain to drill and tap them for what they were advertised, what I expected and what I ordered based on the listing.
