They are sharp but difficult to open. They don't open, so it takes two hands to open them around the hoof. I like the Jeffers ones better, they open so they're easy to close with one hand. They are well made, just not comfortable for a woman.

I'm so used to my old wire cutters that the new ones need some time to break in. They are stiff and need to be used repeatedly to improve leverage. The jury is still out, but overall the wire cutters are well constructed and durable. I hope they last as long as my old ones!

I don't see any problems using these wire cutters. Unless your arm strength has decreased or your horse's hooves are really parched. The drier an animal's hooves are, the more difficult it is to clip them, no matter how sharp the wire cutters are. I can easily operate these pliers with one hand! I love them and plan on getting many more soon.

Purchased for a hoof emergency and to extend the time between trims. Love it and very easy to use. I'm quite short and have always had a hard time working with hooves because my hands aren't big enough, but I can use it fairly easily. Removes hooves easily and cleanly. Helps reduce the time between professional blacksmith visits and I can attend to any emergencies as they arise.
