Don't know it was dead on arrival

My unit was dead on arrival I changed it to another driver I had and everything worked fine. Tried changing it back to this one, still dead. When turned on the red light comes on and doesn't respond. The manual for this driver describes very vaguely what the solid red light means and basically just says the driver is dead and should be returned for a replacement if the wiring is correct and the light is still on. So it seems to be a general problem.

Pros
  • Electric motors
Cons
  • High price

Much better than I expected

Too bad I didn't find this stepper motor driver sooner. I have previously purchased a set of TB6600 drivers. Yes they are cheap and they work. However, the TB6600 drivers only do 1/32 microstepping. These stepper drivers go well beyond 1/32nd. I only need 1/64 for this project so I installed it in the driver. It was a direct replacement for the TB6600. I didn't have to change the microcontroller settings or redo anything other than a quick connection at the edge of the stepper motor driver…

Pros
  • Brackets and accessories
Cons
  • Little things

Good rims good price

I bought two; Works well so far with 4-wire NEMA23 motors (similar to the Superior Electric M0-63) set at 2000 pulses per revolution, which is similar to the Centent and Gecko microstepping I'm used to. I love how they mount vertically with just two screws and a heatsink on the side, allowing heat to radiate into the air and not onto the mounting surface. Removable terminal blocks are nice too, so once everything is connected you can switch drives without unscrewing all the wires. Red + green…
