Robust construction; low SWR over range

Haven't used it for a while but seems to work well and is of solid construction. I spent a few minutes doing this on an antenna analyzer. I get an SWR of 2:1 or better between 438-475MHz and 1.5:1 or better in the 444-468MHz range. Attached is a quick graph of what I measured.

Draws 5 watts of power at a distance of 25 miles.

So far the maximum distance I have tested is 40 km and it has worked well at this distance with a 5 watt PDA. It's installed on the roof of my house and I was at someone's house on the opposite side of the lake with a portable device, with the lake in between there weren't many obstacles blocking the signal.

Cons
  • Only available in white

Will work in my attic

I bought a mounting kit, screwed it up in the attic and attached the antenna to it. It works perfectly. I reach the repeater which is over 15 miles away and my friends on the radio can hear me perfectly. If you live in a HOA or other restricted area/area that prohibits external antennas then this is the option for you, for GMRS frequencies. Highly recommended.

Cons
  • Obsolete model
