Works with original LG Ultrafine 4K

Will come back and update if they don't last long but for now it seems it's finally the cable that will help connect my graphics card (AMD Radeon Pro W5500) to my two monitors LG Ultrafine 4K.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Can't remember

Real Bidirectional USB-C DP Cable That Works! FYI: The DP end only works with original DP enabled devices such as DP/mDP ports on PCs, laptops, monitors with DP output, etc. It is not supported by DP from GPU/video card or dock stations (without internal converter ) enabled. Tested:βœ”οΈ1) Mac with TB1/2 to miniDP/DP adapter on this cable connected to USB-C monitor (DP Alt mode); Mac to Dell MST Monitor to this cable connecting to a USB-C enabled monitor (DP Alternate Mode)βœ”οΈ2) Mobo DP PC using…

Delivers full 8K 60Hz with a single cable

The published specs for both the Dell UP3218K monitor and iMacPro made me think the best I would see was 8K 30Hz with a single cable is. I hooked it up to a display and an iMacPro and it actually runs at a full 60Hz with just one cable. Surprisingly good, I haven't seen any other cable that allows this. Highly recommended!

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • too dumb

Works up to 4k60 as far as I can tell

I don't have a device that supports resolutions higher than 4k60 so I can't test higher cable speeds yet. However, when connected to a 4k60 monitor, it definitely works as expected.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • High price

the only product that works both ways

I am getting this to connect the DP port 1060 output of the GPU to a LG 5K Ultra Fine display that only type -C ports. This is perhaps the only product on the market that actually works both ways. However, the speaker and camera on this display do not work. If you use this cable you will need an alternative speaker and camera.

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Not bad but...

Works great with LG Ultrafine 4K

Works great between my AMD RX 570 (with full size Displayport) and my LG Ultrafine 4K (first edition). Run OSX on a Hackintosh. The only complaint is that it takes 2-3 seconds to change the resolution, also the USB hub and the light sensor on the monitor don't work, but the cable is excellent. The "bi-directional" nature of this cable suits me.

Pros
  • Looks great

  • Weight

the only product that works both ways

I am getting this to close the output of a DP 1060 GPU port with a LG 5K Ultra Fine display connect, which only has Type-C ports. Saved my life! This is perhaps the only product on the market that actually works both ways. However, the speaker and camera on this display do not work. If you use this cable you will need an alternative speaker and camera.

Pros
  • Product comes with 2 years DisplayPort latch for secure connection
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Warning, not bi-directional for every use case

I had high hopes but it didn't work for me. I bought it because it's bi-directional, and one of the images even has a two-way arrow between DisplayPort and USB-C. Unfortunately, that didn't work for me with either the RX 580 or the Radeon VII paired with an Acer PM161Q monitor. I don't know if this works with other products, but I'm very disappointed. As far as I know there is only one other cable (much more expensive) that claims to be bi-directional. After this experience, I'm skeptical and…

Pros
  • Connect your system's USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 port that uses the DisplayPort 1.4 Alternate Mode feature to a DisplayPort-compatible display with a 6ft/1. 8m adapter cable

  • Short manual
