Used with the vuze xr camera (in 180 mode).

I got this to use with a Vuze XR camera in 180 mode. You need to add about 200g of weight behind the camera to compensate as the camera is very light. Obviously that won't work. It's good if you try 360 mode as the hands are in the frame, but 180 mode works fine. Download app to keep balance and download app update for more new videos. Balance is achieved for each axis if it stays where you leave it at each point (without returning to its original position).

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Damaged

Difficult to set up, difficult to lift and maneuver with one hand.

I'm an enthusiastic newcomer who was looking for a 'lightweight' portable recording solution. I am disappointed and dissatisfied. Not only is the Ronin-SC extremely difficult to set up and balance, it is also very heavy when mounted with a full frame mirrorless camera (Sony A7iii 28-70mm). wrong name. When I tried to pack the assembled gimbal in my camera backpack (large DSLR) there was no room for anything else.

A caveat for stabilizers

Feels good and looks good. It has a lot of features that I will most likely not use. What I like is that it delivers smooth footage and is easy to use once set up. The only downside is that it's very difficult to balance. DJI made some compromises by coupling multiple axes, which made balancing difficult. You need to balance a lens and stick with it. Don't try to change lenses unless you have 30 minutes. I'm from Crane 2 and Crane 2 was so easy to balance. As long as I like it I will be using…

Search for a camera on the DJI website.

Like an idiot I asked if my camera would fit this Ronin. And I was told it would be. But that didn't happen. I managed to balance my camera on it. I even did a propensity test. But one day it will tremble and alarm. I always thought that I should repeat it. I spent 8 hours to get it working. When I finally contacted DJI I felt like an idiot and was told it wasn't for my camera no matter what other people said. So they brought it back and I had to buy a big daddy. Too bad to send it back. It…

Pros
  • Solidly built

  • I don't have much to complain about, it's ok

The roll axis drifts no matter what I tried.

Roll axis misalignment seems to be a fairly common problem judging by the number of posts about it on the DJI forums. Several users have asked DJI Support for solutions, but they never responded. They seem quick to post about other issues, but there are pages of people complaining about the roll axis being disabled, but no response from DJI. Also, the pitch is shifted a few degrees, but that doesn't bother me as much as the roll axis offset. On my device, the roll axis starts in a horizontal…

Return for refund

Thing seems to be really good but the gimbal motors don't work well with a light camera after balancing. Balancing is really difficult and the DJI Ronin app instructions are terrible. Youtube is your friend when it comes to this. Ronin SC is a cool toy but I had to return it because it is not compatible with my outdated Sony A5100 firmware; However, please note that this is not the reason for my rating the review. I bought it on sale and decided to give it a try. With the A5100 I was able to…
