Very nice surprise

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of these mounting adapters. Of course, these aren't complicated parts, but they seem solid, with some weight, and I don't see what can be done to improve them (besides changing the country of origin).

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Quick start guide

Works great for camera and photos

Used this to attach a lamp to my camcorder's cold shoe. Although he moved a lot, he held on tight and stayed in place throughout the shoot. I would say it's done. I find it is much more stable to have two handles as the first ones I bought only had one.

Pros
  • I keep my fists
Cons
  • I don't like anything about it, everything is fine

Works better than expected

I bought these to replace the ones I lost but they are a little different. At first I wasn't too concerned because I thought it would be ok but when I first tried to put them on it wasn't enough so I was worried because I thought I had the wrong ones but then noticed I that you can adjust the depth and once I was excited because now I can use it for more than what I bought it for

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Speed

They are smaller and cannot be protected.

They are smaller and cannot be protected. The flat square portion of the hot shoe is about 0.699 inches wide (0.031 inches less than the corresponding portion on my flash). Because of this, all matching adapters (hot shoe tripod adapters with 1/4"-20 tripod screw) did not secure the smaller hot shoe mount adapters when fully tightened (the flash snaps securely with them).

Pros
  • Availability
Cons
  • Not bad

Bought so I can pan and photograph rocket launches from Wallops Island

The adapter does the job well mounting my Canon 1080P consumer camcorder to my DSLR. I wasn't expecting the camera/mirror shutter action to vibrate the video during a rocket launch that was 5km from my tripod. This actually happened. I suspect that for any other use, zooming in on the camcorder's zoom lens will give the same result. Maybe this isn't such a problem, say, for a family reunion or some other relatively close object.

Pros
  • Regular price
Cons
  • Almost everything is included

Sturdy and reliable

This is a good reliable item that I trust with the most expensive and heaviest gear. I use them on my $400 audio system, flashes and zoom lenses. The "thumbscrews" are a good size so you can grab them if you have a stubborn mount that just won't let go, or one that's difficult to install and won't budge. I've put some effort into these things with some high power equipment and not a single strip has cracked or broken. Some of the things I've used them for aren't exactly photo/audio related, but

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Good but not great
