This is a good reliable item that I trust with the most expensive and heaviest gear. I use them on my $400 audio system, flashes and zoom lenses. The "thumbscrews" are a good size so you can grab them if you have a stubborn mount that just won't let go, or one that's difficult to install and won't budge. I've put some effort into these things with some high power equipment and not a single strip has cracked or broken. Some of the things I've used them for aren't exactly photo/audio related, but they hold up and can be easily detached when it's time to take them apart. I'm currently using a few of these to make my own mounts for my digital video recorders. Gives me sets of stereo mics, a Rode center omni mic and a pair of satellite mics, with another pair facing up that feeds into a zoom digital recorder/mixer, giving me full 360 degree sound with 1 mic at 90 degrees there. Record in a full 9/1 surround sound system - just 9 mics with a subwoofer to tie it all together. Allows you to sit right in the middle of the sound. With all this set I don't want anything moving and I don't want failed connections.
