Description of ๐Ÿ”› DonJoy Lateral J Patella Knee Support Brace: Drytex, Left Leg, Large - Hingeless Solution for Optimal Comfort and Stability

Ideal for day-to-day activities and while playing sports; both in and out of the water. Choose the knee brace to best suit your needs, between Drytex and neoprene; and with or without aluminum hinges for added stability. Drytex allows for improved airflow and is preferred by individuals in warm weather climates and those with neoprene allergies or irritations. Neoprene is a thicker, wetsuit-like material that provides a warmer option. For patients with knee pain related to the following: lateral patellar subluxation and dislocations, lateral patellofemoral malalignment, patellofemoral maltracking and pain, and chondromalacia due to lateral maltracking. Universal design allows the DonJoy Lateral J Patella Knee Brace to be used by both men and women. Fit tip-take the measurement of your thigh and calf 6 inch above and below your kneecap using a flexible type tape measure. Use the diameter you measure here.

Too uncomfortable to wear

While I believe the brace does what it is supposed to do in terms of patella tracking, the seam goes right over the back of the knee and is extremely uncomfortable.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Theme. It was exactly what I needed. However .

product. It was exactly what I needed. However, they provide measurement sheets for the buyer to order their size. Doesn't work for me. I ended up ordering 2 pieces.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • poorly designed

It's better than what the clinic offers.

This is better than what the clinic offers. The knee is actually %^&*$# up and needs replacing, but while it's not it helps keep the parts in place until the insurance does what I'm paying them for.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Otherwise the product seems acceptable

The back seam is very uncomfortable/painful. Seems to be a decent product otherwise, but the seam issue is a deal breaker. I found this similar product Pro-Tec Athletics J-Lat Lateral Subluxation Support (Left, X-Large) much more comfortable and effective.

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Some minor issues

Excellent stand! on the subject of braces, splints and bandages

So far this is my daughter's favorite knee brace! Her notch in the bone is not deep enough for her kneecap to sink into, causing her to dislocate her kneecap. This brace holds the kneecap in place and is comfortable. It also retained the best of everything we've tried. Most of them only lasted a few months but this one lasted almost 2 years. We just bought our second one and will definitely keep buying her if she needs it. They are great for them to use during wrestling matches.

Pros
  • beautiful item
Cons
  • communication with the seller

Uncomfortable to wear

I was very disappointed with this brace. I bought this knowing the Donjoy name as I've bought others from them. This is very badly designed. Confident that I had the corset on correctly, I ran for 3 miles. About halfway through my run, the stitching on the back of the brace started to irritate my foot a lot. The discomfort was so great that it affected walking. Afterwards, my wife noticed a red line on the back of my knee where the orthosis was irritating me. I have worn many bandages on bothโ€ฆ
