Not as good as I thought

I've had it for almost a year, bought it in 2017 and can't wear it anymore, the material has stretched to the point that it won't fit even if I pull it the straps all the way up, it would still slip off my foot after a few steps. I've tried shrinking it with washing but nothing happens. My McDavid brace fits much better, never loses its shape and fits very well. Will never buy from DonJoy again. What I bought it for and it lasted less than a year but my McDavid is still worth less money. I…

Some velcro and design issues but I like the material despite being heavy.

LOVE the color and feel of this headband! In theory, the brace is a good design, except that it's difficult to attach with Velcro and doesn't hold the hinge close enough to the knee to be as useful as it could be. It's a little heavy and slides down. The straps are nice and stretchy, but the velcro is difficult to put on and take off and appears to be aged despite not being used much. Also, the piece of plastic that the velcro runs through rotates vertically, which causes the velcro to come…

Nice choice! on orthoses, splints and bandages

I bought this orthosis after contacting a medical supply store on the recommendation of my orthopedic practice. When I went to the appointment, I expected to be measured and fitted with braces just for me. However, this turned out not to be the case. I was measured but the resulting brace was flimsy, oversized and essentially a standard standard corset. Within a week it stretched so much it fell on my leg. I decided to go online and find my own corset. I followed the instructions to measure my…

Great product that does what it is supposed to do for me.

Excellent product as it is and as it should be. I have a medial meniscus tear, a dislocated kneecap and osteoarthritis in my left knee. Before I got this brace, climbing stairs was very painful and my knee felt very unstable when walking on level ground. After wearing this brace for about three weeks all the time except when I sleep and shower, I can now walk, climb and descend stairs while wearing the brace without pain. In fact, I've done a few moderately difficult 10-mile hikes with no pain.

Pros
  • A sea of positive emotions

  • Good but not great

As advertised but doesn't work for me

This brace has decent support and is well made. The reason for my 3 stars is as follows. If this is not a problem for you then I am sure that this brace will serve you well. I have a complete posterior cruciate ligament tear from a roller derby injury 5 years ago. Since I was retiring anyway, expensive surgery to close the gap made no sense as it didn't limit day-to-day mobility. However, I now play a lot with racquets and occasionally do kickboxing and have found that I need the stability and…

Comfortable enough but with poor design.

Bought two of these. One to replace a very outdated medical knee brace from over 20 years ago and another for my poor right knee which has taken up most of the distribution over the years. When I was a teenager I caused catastrophic damage to my left knee. Football injury that sadly stayed with me for the rest of my life, severely affecting my normal ability to walk. Of course, as I get older, age and other injuries to the same joints take their toll. I tore my ACL 4 times in my left knee and…

Very similar to the Shock Doctor 875 but twice the price.

I compared this to my Shock Doctor 875. They are very similar. I'm tall in SD but medium in DonJoy Bionic. The most notable difference is that this DJ is inexplicably more than twice the price of the SD ($85 vs. $40). This is probably the defining moment for most. Still, I liked that the DJ had a lower profile where the gear housings are smaller than the SD and they're also covered in smooth neoprene on the outside. It should be noted that the DJ hinges are NOT removable - they are sewn in - so

  • Decent performance
