Great Bolts - Manifolds and Parts

Used these yesterday to replace BS GM bolts on my LS Suburban. It worked. I liked that the heads of these screws are larger too. When they break I drill out the heads and manifold and put in good old 3/8" bolts, never have one broken on a manifold.

Pros
  • Easy to read panel
Cons
  • Minor issues

Couldn't get them to engage the threads properly

After an hour trying to screw them into the heads of my Chevy 5.3 I gave up and cleaned the old ones. I didn't want to risk tearing the threads. Standard screws have a slight taper for correct threading. Will return.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Seems to work: Replacement parts

They don't have a cone on the ends like the originals so they are extremely difficult to start. Even with the three screws in the manifold finger tight, I couldn't align and snap the other three, and even when they did, the threads on them crossed. Luckily I have a few decent OEMs left so now I have an OEM mismatch.

Pros
  • Permanent test results
Cons
  • Drilling of package

Great product at a great price

I was able to replace this 1 for 1 on my GMC Sierra Denali 1500 2015 5.3L. Most often they break when trying to replace. My suggestion: make sure the engine is warm, slowly wear out the old ones and change them one by one. (Note) I also only had 70,000 miles and the sooner the change the better as this is a common problem with OEM mounts prior to this year. Also use medium Loctite when installing. 18 ft lbs of torque on LS1

very satisfied good fit for headers and parts

used these to replace a couple of broken bolts on my 04 5.3l GMC. 18 months and around 22,000 miles later none of them have broken their heads. The locksmith suggested I put them on my lathe and make a notch just under the head to make them easier to remove. If they break, at least one pin will stick out of the head. Tips for Removing Broken Head Bolts - Weld a nut and washer to the broken bolt protruding from the head. If you don't have a welder buy one, it's still cheaper than hiring a…

They appear to be of good quality

Haven't fitted them yet as the engine is still disassembled so felt I couldn't give them the full 5 star rating. But these screws appear to be a quality product. I don't see any sloppiness in the workmanship and in the test they screw themselves perfectly into the head. They are stamped 10.9, like the factory. I will install them according to the order and torque value listed at the GM plant. Time and heat cycles will reveal their true history, although the original bolts have been known to…
