My 2003 Silverado doesn't have a cabin air filter, but it does have a blank that you cut and trim. Door and filter fit like OEM. The leaves and pine needles stuck there could be removed. In addition, it protects your cabin from dust.

If like me you have an 05 Avalanche I highly recommend you buy this door and follow the instructions that came with it to get a cabin air filter (purchased separately) for your Manufacture trucks so you can filter the cabin air and keep it healthy. Buying them individually saved me about $25 compared to buying a kit to do this.

This kit provides retrofit instructions for vehicles that do not have a cabin air filter. My 2002 Silverado has one. My 2004 Suburban didn't, but it does now. The instructions state that the hole for the filter must be cut with a clerical knife. I'm just suggesting that it's easier if you heat the plastic with a microtorch or heat gun before cutting.

2007 2500 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Classic Fits perfectly when I cut the factory plastic blank. I can't stress this enough, take your time if you're going to use this method as well, as it's a one-time thing. Once you've finished trimming and smoothing out the rough edges with a flat file, installation is a breeze! I suspect that regular filter changes will greatly increase the life of your evaporator core, which failed on my truck due to dirt and leaf buildup. Much luck :)
