Worth the money for coolant conversion kits

I have a 2003 BMW 330i and I have renewed all parts of the cooling system which fits great cars, works perfectly, no leaks and no overheating.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Fine

Fits great. There are no more leaks.

The sensor was slightly damaged but I was able to manipulate the plastic to use it without any problems. Looks sturdy and well made, but not dissimilar to the original tank.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Operating Speed

Good product so far

Installation was easy, we'll see how long it lasts. Used a cheaper one and only lasted 3 months so went with the more expensive Dorman; it was still cheaper than buying it from Autozone. The stitching is made of thicker material and is close to the factory stitching. The only problem was using the factory sensor, the new one that came with the kit gave the coolant code.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • poorly thought out

Life Saver Coolant System

I am extremely happy with my coolant tank and thermostat. I had major problems with leaks and ended up having to replace the entire cooling system/radiator/hoses. My tank was fine, but I decided to replace it as well. My local parts store had it for 80.00 but this find was definitely in my budget and it included a tank thermostat. I was skeptical about ordering, thinking it was a misleading description, but it was exactly what I ordered. My 01 BMW 325 Thank you!

Pros
  • Hands Free Operation
Cons
  • Modern

Did not fit properly without modification

I have installed numerous BMW OEM coolant expansion tanks on this vehicle model. Since I own my own car, this time I decided to save some money and buy a non-genuine part. It always bites my ass. There is a small piece of plastic on the bottom inside of the Dorman's tank that is interfering with the auxiliary thermostat. The container was not pushed down far enough to engage the holder. I had to use a pickaxe to remove this piece to get it to fit and close properly.

Pros
  • Permanent test results
Cons
  • I will add later

Coolant Recovery Kit Satisfied Customer

coolant reservoir delivered today with thermostat. The process is not that difficult as there are many DIY videos on YouTube. The hardest part was when I reconnected the top hose to the reservoir. You have to remove it a couple of times to connect the top hose to the tank. No leaks! So far I'm happy with the result. I will give an update in the future. Update: 01/30/21 After almost 3 years the expansion tank started to leak at the bottom seal. I bought a replacement from my local NAPA store.

Pros
  • Alright!
Cons
  • negative impression

04 BMW X3 3.0i doesn't fit like original part

Over 20 years working with cars, old disassembled and new fitted in less than 30 mins. I spent the next three hours trying to leak a top hose fitting to prevent. It is smaller than the defective original part. Makes me think about the rest of the accoutrements but only time will tell. In the end it took one turn of 3M Super 33+ tape to stop the leak. 7mm all weather vinyl tape rated for 220 degrees Fahrenheit, hope it holds up until I can get an OEM part to replace that crap! UPDATE NOVEMBER…

Pros
  • Best in niche
Cons
  • Negative gift
