Heat shield must be removed for installation. The 10mm bolts on my heat shield were over tightened and almost completely stripped off. A little, it comes with extra spacers, I think it's good.

My mechanic quoted me a price of about $180 through his dealer. Luckily he's kind enough to let me buy the parts myself so I bought this one for half the price. He installed it and when I picked up the car he told me it was a good, reliable product. So as long as it doesn't tear sooner than expected, I'm happy. I can't give it five stars because I can't vouch for its reliability yet.

Made in China Part with coarse, thick cast. Putting the stud nuts back in between the pipes was a lot harder than removing them from the old manifold. Fits better than some of the other Dorman headers I've installed (VW 1.8L and Cherokee 4.0). Does not come with head stud nuts, make sure you can remove them intact. Flange bolts and nuts are handy because they tend to break.

Cast iron exhaust manifolds often crack, original or non-original. If you don't allow enough downtime for the exhaust to warm up (especially in cold weather), cracks can and do occur. Fast driving after a cold start contributes to cracking. The cracks allow air to be drawn into the exhaust stream and can be seen by the O2 sensor as a lean mixture, which in turn causes the car's computer to add fuel when the engine doesn't really need additional fuel.
