Repair leaking transmission seal

I'm glad I bought it. The transmission seal was leaking and it turned out that the fork was badly worn. This solved my problem.

  • cool product
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Does the job well for parts

Got this flange kit for my 2008 Lincoln Town Car. My old flange had a worn area where the gasket makes contact and rotates. Worked great, no leaks.

Yoak works fine but the seal is leaking

So you have mixed feelings. Yes it works fine but the seal is leaking. I bought it because my old oil seal was leaking, when you put it in it leaked.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Useless features

Works as it should: universal joints and parts

Installed this kit on a Ford F-150 XLT 2006 2WD. The price was lower than I expected. Delivered as estimated. It took a puller to remove the old one and found a new oil seal with a groove in the original yoke. Came complete with clamp, stuffing box and a new nut. I installed this in about 2 hours with no problems.

Pros
  • nice thing
Cons
  • safety

not suitable for transmission and transmission

I tried to put this on but only went 1/4 of the way and stopped. I had to use the old one and noticed that the old one was a different length. So if I put it on the driveshaft I would have to reach the spline about 1 1/2 inches. I always buy Dorman products and this is my first time. problem with them. I hope to return, bought a month before trying to install.

Pros
  • Decent performance

It does the job

I was glad to find this kit at such a great price and with the well known "Dorman" name. Unfortunately, when I put the new flange next to the old OEM flange, I immediately saw the difference, so I broke off the caliper kit. The new flange is thinner and has a smaller diameter. In addition, there is a distance difference of up to 0.024" from the outside edge of the holes (OEM was 0.002"). That's a lot considering the flange and driveshaft can rotate at over 7000 RPM. I installed the part and…

Too tight to tighten the splines

I ended up reusing the original drive flange with the slightly pitted sealing surface in place of this new one. The Dorman drive flange was so tight to the gear splines that I gave up after pushing it down a few millimeters with the gear nut for fear it would only be half seated. If I had made a tool to keep the drive flange from turning rather than relying on the diff internals to hold it still, I'd happily put a lot more force on the nut and maybe screw it in. but I could have gotten stuck…
