🚪 Dorman 77498 Exterior Door Handle: Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC Models in Black Review

Perfect fit. Like all the knobs on my Astro Van, once they break they are really hard to replace and some have broken over the years. This is a real failure of the Astro and GMC transporters. I recommend Dorman as a replacement.

All auto parts stores supply it. It was a replacement for the rear van driver's grip. In the original, the latch broke and would not open. This part fit perfectly. There was a new gasket and both stem clamps. Easily adjustable. Works like new. Thanks again to the porter.

My coffee was still warm enough to drink after I replaced the broken latch and reinstalled the decorative door cover. It's a heavy, well-made replacement with no compromises, solid as far as I'm concerned. I would definitely buy this Taiwanese part over the cheaper Chinese version even though I saved a few bucks.

Perfect fit for the driver's side rear barn door of my 1996 Chevy Suburban. The clips are different from the factory clips but they work well. New nuts not included, keep old ones!*****UPDATE**** The handle lasted 3 months before it broke. The pin holding the tang on the back of the bolt broke off, rendering the handle unusable. It was with infrequent use, maybe once or twice a week.

Part fits and works perfectly on the Chevy Express 98 driver's side tailgate. Chevy engineers didn't leave much room to work so the installation was not completed. fast (about 1/2 hour). The Dorman part fitted perfectly with no modifications. So far it works perfectly. Notes: New nuts are not supplied with the part; Reuse the existing ones as the mounting nuts fall off easily, stuff the bottom of the inside of the door with rags and use a magnetic stick to remove the fallen nuts.

I broke the handle on my 2002 Chevy Astro Van. Now I broke it when it was closed so it wouldn't open. Removed some pins and unscrewed the plates and it worked. So now to the mechanism. It was a direct replacement. He does his job for what it's worth. to make it work again. But remember 1. New springs are not as strong as old ones. 2. The new green/red clips seemed flimsy (I rebuilt my old ones as they were stronger and not broken).

I would like to give this product a good or excellent rating but I've just bought my third or fourth one, anyway this is my second this year. Works well, just not durable. I open the back door about 50 times a week, I'm a courier, I have to use this door a lot. But obviously they are not built to last. The spring in the middle tends to break after a while and that's it, you need a new one. Installation is easy, but it gets to the point where I feel like I'm throwing my money away.
