The perfect replacement. Works perfectly.

Installed 5/28/15. The perfect replacement. Works perfectly. I paid less than $25 for it with fast shipping. It is not known how long it will last. I will update when possible.

  • Weight
Cons
  • Minor issues

I can appreciate what the resister is doing.

This replacement resistor did everything it was supposed to do. It's hard to get at, but with a video on the web. colossal help. Once installed, it worked well - during the coldest, snowiest winter in Wisconsin in 5 years.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • old

Works cheap Price good for heating

Installed in Monte 2001. Tight tight tight. Remove all the screws you can get (2), loosen the ones you can't get (laughs) by pulling the broken resistor sideways through the slots the chains go through. Seal with RTV silicone and 1 or 2 screws. Just be careful not to damage the new one when installing it. Oh, make sure the air conditioner drain holes are clean.

Pros
  • Test for one year
Cons
  • not reliable

The heater/AC now blows air on all settings!

This product has worked great for me. My Buick Regal 98's heater/AC stopped working on low settings and eventually only worked on high. Some research online led me to believe that the fan resistor had failed. It seemed that even a beginner like me could do it, so I ordered a part and replaced it with the old one. It was quite crowded which made it difficult for me to get out but once I did I changed it to a new one and the heat/AC worked on all settings. Definitely something you could do too!

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Requires an outlet

Great price, works great!

Several fan speeds on my wife's van stopped working. It ended up running at full speed for a few minutes and then shut off completely. I did a little research and decided this is the part I need. I ordered the part (at a much lower price than the auto parts stores) and it arrived fairly quickly. I replaced the block myself (found a youtube video showing how to replace it) and it worked like a champ. I made a replacement just before winter so my wife and kids could keep warm on the road. The fan

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Installed this in my 2003 Grand Prix. Fixed fan issue. However, it only lasted about 3 days and I'm back to where I started. I have only used ACdelco parts in the past and trust me I will continue to do so. This isn't a repair I like to do over and over again. Not because of a broken resistor from Dorman, the patient will spend more time twisting and rolling under the dashboard. You get what you pay for, spend a few bucks more and save a lot of time and hassle. I've given Dorman a few chances…

Pros
  • Quality finish
Cons
  • Has defects

Reisitor Fan

Buick Regal 2000; high fan speeds worked, but lower ones didn't. I installed a Dorman 973000 resistor and now all speeds work. The resistor was hard to find and had to be removed with a mirror to find the 2/4 mounting screws. The resistor is located under the passenger side dash, between the fan motor and almost opposite (1/4" gap) the interior firewall/floor. There is a red wire coming out of the fan motor, trace it forward and it connects to the fan. Resistor. The two mounting screws closest…
