Best OEM Quality in Master Cylinders

This part is identical to the Ford part it replaces. I suspect Dorman makes this part for Ford. The swap was an absolute nightmare (thanks to Ford for putting the master cylinder in the most inconvenient spot on the car), but it works great. As usual, Revain's price and speed of delivery was excellent.

Pros
  • Good Thing
Cons
  • Modern

Next time we'll probably go with OEM.

This part worked fine once I was able to install it, but there was a small burr I had to trim with a utility knife before it snapped into place. I found that annoying, hence the 3 star rating. That being said it was perhaps a unique condition and now that it's discontinued I haven't had any issues.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Poor performance

Wouldn't make me feel good about separation, and yes I'm a certified master.

Clutch master failed shortly after installation. It wouldn't give me a good shut off feeling and yes I'm a skilled handyman and have installed many of these. Reset, pressure relief etc. without success. Installed another one from a local shop and it worked fine

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • Upgradeable

Required assembly on Focus SE 2003

The master cylinder housing must fit into the grooves on the bracket that holds the clutch pedal and brake pedal. The pillars molded for this purpose have a plastic lip that the original Ford doesn't have and we had to file it down to fit. In addition, it worked perfectly. We followed the excellent guide on the Focus Fanatics forums and it took us just over 4 hours (most of the time was spent looking for a suitable issue).

Pros
  • Sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • Availability of the upgrade

Great price works great

If this master cylinder fails I will come back and edit the review but for now I'm giving it 5 stars. Arrived well packaged, very little risk of damage. Yes, it's all plastic, but there was an OEM unit as well, and so far it's working great. Took me just over 2 hours to get the old one out, install the new one, and it easily saved me a few hundred bucks by doing the job myself instead of taking it to the store. Make sure you have someone to help you bleed the clutch! You cannot bleed it…

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Saved me a lot of money, great for a 2004 Ford Foucs ZX3.

It took me a while to find out I had a leaking master cylinder, first I noticed I was low on brake fluid, then after a few weeks my clutch pedal became slippery. After speaking and looking under the dash I saw the problem, I needed a new master cylinder. It's not that hard, you just need patients and it helps to remove the driver's seat. After removing the lower torpedo (4 screws), and then three clutch and brake gas sensors. You're pretty much right there, you need to pull the lines and make…
