Arrived and worked great.

I am using this replacement bushing for my 2007 Ford Taurus shift linkage as recommended by several websites online and it has worked great. Installed in minutes and completely solved my problem. I was not able to purchase this part locally and tried very hard to do so.

Powered by 1970 MACH 1 with 4 speeds.

They fit well, I didn't have enough grip to put them on the car. I removed the linkage and first put the bushing into the transfer arm with a vise, inserting the connecting rod into the installed bushing was easy. Nice tight fit, thought I should have bought more and replaced them all.

Easy install perfect fit

Bought because my shifter fell apart (88 F150 4.9L C6 gearbox). The old socket was completely shot up. I cut off the rest of the old one and attached it to the transmission lever. I grabbed a pair of pliers and pressed the rest of the lever against the bushing and everything clicked into place. Perfect fit, I can shift into all gears again!

I bought this bushing when I bought the linkage but wasn't sure it was right and was afraid to get it to destroy the old one (sleeve), it looked the same but looks can be deceiving, after some time trying to carefully remove it my patience ran out and I decided to just try it with a cutting disc. I cut the bolt off the switch and ground the rest of the stud to the linkage I want to start this would save a lot of time. The transfer case has never shifted so smoothly, even new.

fits 1997 4x4 F150 transfer case shifter

The Dorman 74040 bushing is identical to the original factory bushings on the lever that goes between the 4x4 shifter and the transfer case on my 1997 F150. The rear hub broke and fell out, leaving the linkage dangling under the car, preventing the truck from going into four-wheel drive. I ripped off the lever and removed the remaining bushing with an X-ACTO knife, then pressed the new bushings into a vise, using the large bushing on one side for relief. I then reinstalled the linkage into the…
