Much more comfortable than my old strap

Hello, I have a full frame mirrorless camera and a Sony 70-300 lens, both of which put quite a strain on my shoulder. I love my camera bag very much, but my old shoulder strap pad just didn't fit. This had a major impact on comfort.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Very expensive

Good padding but slips on thin straps and doesn't hold position.

I like the extra padding this add-on offers, but wish the velcro was tighter than a thin strap. It slips up and down the relatively thin strap of my shoulder bag a bit. It works but needs to be adjusted every time I put the sling on. It's not a chore, but I'd rather not have to do it every time I use it.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

The belt no longer cuts into my shoulder!

I love this shoulder pad! I can't believe how much the gel padding helped hold a heavy bag comfortably on my shoulder. It attached to the bag's strap in seconds, and the velcro allowed the pad to stay in place all day long as long as I'm carrying a full bag across the street every day. So worth every penny! I'll probably get a second one over my shoulder for hand luggage.

Pros
  • understandable even for the old ones
Cons
  • almost never

My third is luggage straps

First I bought one, then another, and now another. These work great for rifle slings, I use a maxpedition 1.5 pad that goes over the sling and then over it. And it makes carrying a rifle all day absolutely painless. You can use them for computer bags etc. Get the best bang for your buck with Revain. Thick and soft and very well made. Who knows, maybe the 4th! In addition, professional guides are involved in it. I've seen them fold a t-shirt or handkerchief into quarters and use it as a pad. It…

Too Stiff - Uses a hard plastic "air cushion "

Attention! The main pad used in these shoulder pads are several hard plastic "air pads" that do a terrible job of giving you a comfortable cushion. Somewhat thicker foam (or even better, memory foam) would be much preferable. The feeling here is hard and unyielding. I ended up cutting these pads to remove the hard "air pockets". Instead, all that's left is a very thin piece of cheap foam that offers very little cushioning. Look elsewhere for a decent shoulder pad as the design here is very poor

Pros
  • Quick Change
Cons
  • Security

Good enough for luggage and travel gear

I use the Dr. Air, an air-cushioned construction, for the camera, as a liner over the Optech Utility Strap, which replaces the defunct Tamrac Boomerang Strap. I've used synthetic auto shoulder pads for this purpose in the past, but the Optech harness is slightly narrower than the Boomerang and the pads just slide off. I've also used Timbuk2 pads for this purpose, but the style I'm using seems to be being phased out. Pillow The Air has vented mesh covers that are good but not as durable as…
