almost impossible to move the marker

I ordered this to replace an identical Dritz sensor which I have used for years but unfortunately lost. This one is useless to me as the marker is almost impossible to move. You have to press hard enough to leave an imprint on your thumb. I am extremely disappointed!

Pros
  • Same as everything before
Cons
  • No performance

Doesn't meet the standard for Dritz

Very, very weak. Not at all what I expected from Dritz. Marked with color. The measuring holder moves. It looks like an accurate hem or buttonhole measurement with a construction tape would be more accurate. I returned mine. That big money is not worth the hassle.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • I'm worried

does what it says on the tin

I saw this product in one of the youtube videos I was watching to learn how to hem seams. Just bought it so haven't used it much. He seems to do what he says. The metal is very soft and bends easily by hand, so you need to handle it carefully. I lowered my overall score because it arrived in damaged packaging as shown in my photo. The instructions on the back are illegible due to torn paper.

Pros
  • Acceptable
Cons
  • Not all fit

If you need a spare

Cons: Feels like refined aluminum foil - bends very easily. The slide is not easy to move and seems to break after a few uses. Pros: The printed numbers and lines are dark and easy to see. The measurements match the measurements on my fabric tape measure. Review: This will work as a replacement but after only a few uses I have doubts about its accuracy as the metal bends easily. I recommend spending more money for better quality.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging

Good tool but not the best quality

This is a great tool, especially since I make a lot of patterns in Japanese sewing books that require adding seam allowances. I bought two and the price is great. However, after only a few months of use, the color had worn off from the size markings enough that I had to smooth them out on a cutting mat to set the seam allowances. They still work, but it's annoying. In addition, the blue plastic slider is straight on one, the other always had two sides offset. It'll get the job done, so get it…

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Some small things

I'm new to sewing and I can't calculate seam allowances in my life. I agree with 1/4 in seams and 1/2 in seams, but when they start breaking up into smaller numbers I get lost. This gauge is my lifeboat for seam allowances! Now I can easily determine where I want my seam to be and get it perfect. I'm sure it has dozens of uses other than just measuring seam allowances, but since learning to sew, that's exactly what I've been using it for. I highly recommend it for seams and for any measurements

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Only available in black
