Description of 📏 Dritz Seam Gauge - Nickel Plated with Black Printing and Blue Slider

Small, multi-purpose metal ruler with point turner and sliding right-angle marker that stays in place for repeated marking. Use point to gently push out corners on collars, lapels, cuffs and more. Use sliding marker to measure and mark hem depths, seam allowances, establish buttonholes spacing and length and to evenly space tucks and pleats

not just for sewing

Great things. I use it all over the house. It's smaller than a retractable tape measure, so it's not as bulky for smaller jobs. Sliding guide helps maintain measurement consistency

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Brief instructions

Few functions, slightly sharp edges

Also a money-saving sharpening tool. The "0" is the first line before the 1, not the apex of the triangle, for people like me who get confused easily. You can do seams with an iron, but beware of hot metal. The ruler has unintentional semi-sharp edges, so keep it out of the reach of children.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks

An indispensable tool for every sewing kit.

This is a fairly standard measuring tool that every serious seamstress should have in their kit. I've been using the same one for over 15 years and just replaced it after the test leads wore out from constant use. Tested on other rulers and measurements are accurate. The slide runs smoothly and holds in place well. These little Dritz rulers are a great quality tool!

Good Seam Gauge

This is a good seam gauge, except for one major drawback: I didn't look closely before buying it and assumed the sander would be at the "big" end of the scale nice flat "zero" " line. Unfortunately, the spin is at zero. So if you're like me and like being able to insert a gauge into your seams or use your finger to line up the zero end with the fabric edge, this stitch gauge isn't for you. I keep it in my lathe sewing kit, but I have a different seam gauge.

A decent thermometer for the price.

For the vapor sensor, I prefer the Omnigrid Ruler, which is a piece of cardboard cut to the actual shape of the hem I want to make (which I then roll up the hem and then press down), or for the actual measurement a configurable manometer by Nancy Zeeman. But since this item only costs two dollars, it's a really good compromise. It can also be used as a leno point, although my favorite is a special hard plastic sharpener, or a bodkin, or a chopstick, or various sewing techniques. But for an…
