1/4 inch stretchy, barely; Hooded tie, No.

I want to clarify that these reviews seem to mention several different points; I'm considering Dritz 783 Bodkin, ballpoint pen, silver. The hole is smaller than I expected: about 3/8" wide and about 1/8" deep. It keeps 1/4 of the elasticity as shown in the picture. However, it is not suitable for a hooded tie that has a drawstring end. Since I bought it for this I was determined to get it working (by squeezing the end with pliers and pushing in) but I won't be using it again for this purpose as

Much needed tool

I need this long bandage as an essential tool for my needlework (a technique called "crocheting"). The little ball on the end fell off after about a year of use on the first one I bought. The eyelet I thread the spare thread through was slightly damaged and a bit rough, catching some of the finer threads. The most important mask making tool!

This little tool is my old friend. I bought 2 more after not being able to find my original and before I lost it I was always afraid I would find it. I feel a lot better knowing I have a backup. It is ideal for 1/8" to 1/4" elastics. The ball end allows it to slip through even tighter shrouds/stirrups - I would even go so far as to say it even slides through multiple layers of fabric coming together.
