It works and is inexpensive

The aim was to boost the Blackberry Bluetooth adapter connected to the cassette adapter so that I can stream from the iPhone. Blackberry is USB powered and was pretty weak. I have to turn the volume up a bit, so I hear this hiss. This amp is inexpensive and works. Perhaps because I used all the wires I could find to solder together, this DROK hisses too. Tried with headphones and forgot. A noise filter is a must. It's hard to complain about the price, though, and it's improved really well. I…

DO NOT BUY FROM DROC. HORRIBLE PRODUCTS

Absolutely awful. When testing (simply pressing the wires onto the pins works great). However, when adding a second, even the smallest amount of solder, it immediately pops out. I went through two of them with the same results. In one I didn't use pens, in the other I did. I even bought sockets for pens and everything. Seriously dissatisfied with Drok in general. (I also bought a speaker from them that sounded good but broke out after less than 5 minutes and I never got anywhere near full…

A very cool little product for a portable audio project.

Soldered connectors and space in one chassis with two 2" tweeters and two 2" full-range woofers, a USB cable for power (provided by a 2200mAh mobile phone backup rechargeable battery for all-day use) and a standard 3.5mm plug to connect to the phone/media player headphone jack. I mainly made it for the beach because the standard small BT speakers aren't loud enough to drown out all the ambient noise from the surf and other beachgoers. It does! Wife took him to a "girly beach weekend" with 6-8…

DROK PAM8403 - a small board that makes a BIG sound

I bought six of these DROK PAM8403 amps in a cigar box for guitar amp/speaker projects. In my first application I used a 2000mah USB rechargeable battery to power the amp. In this particular project, the DROK 8403 drives two Gikfun 2 inch full range speakers with an impedance of 8 ohms and 5 watts. Amplifier and speakers go well together. Unfortunately, the choice of 2-inch speakers is limited. I tested two speakers on a PAM8610 10W 12V amp and these speakers could handle the amp almost at full

Pros
  • Great selection
Cons
  • Too long to wait

Design flaw + cost = flaw

This amp works, but it's problematic/difficult to use in production because of two issues: (1) design flaw + (2) cost. amp, there is what you would expect and there are plenty of them. I picked this one because of the included grip and pins. It turns out that the knowledge is not that great and needs to be replaced with a nicer one, and the pins ended up not being used and instead jumpers were soldered directly onto the board (why solder the pins and then attach wires - just solder wires )…

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Can't remember

This device delivers 3W into 4 ohms per channel at 10% THD. This is by no means premium, but good enough for most boombox/portable speaker applications. The group volume control appears to be smooth and has a detent in the fully counterclockwise off position. I'm sure this quality item accounts for most of the actual cost of the device. I used USB power supply. I broke the wire on an old mouse by touching the red and black leads (+ and - respectively) to get 5V. WARNING: The recommended maximum

  • Don't waste too much time

Impressive technology! Perfect fit for Apple AirPort Express

I have just received this item - it has only been used for a short time. The product comes with an 11-pin .100 connector - only 9 of these pins are used. The product description says nothing about it. If I had known that, I probably would have ordered and used a mating connector for the shoe right away. I solder directly to the board. I soldered three foot 18 ga. a speaker cable for outputs, a small 2.5mm power jack and a 3.5mm stereo jack for input. I have a short 2.5mm USB power plug that I…

Funny Home Audio Gadget

This is a great little board for experimenting with the PAM8403 amplifier IC. It gives you the most basic elements needed to make this chip work, plus a voltage attenuator for volume and a power supply coupling capacitor (the cylinder in the middle of the board). This cylinder helps reduce the clicking/popping when the board is turned on with the volume button. We strongly recommend searching for PAM8403 before purchasing. Of course you can connect it to a simple USB power supply by adding…
