You still have to look at how to connect and program the device. But once launched, the probe does its job well. I'll definitely buy another one if the need arises.

I have already collected samples for my pi with this sensor in the wine cellar to monitor the temperature of the bottles and the temperature and humidity of the environment. It works great and was trivial to set up.

I used it with a Raspberry Pi to control the temperature in a chicken coop. When it dropped below 70 degrees the relay clicked and turned on my heat lamp. Worked great to make my chicken walk wider.

I've had this probe since January and finally had time to work on my project. I connected this temperature sensor to RPi and enabled 1-wire but it doesn't work. I did what one of the other reviewers said and still got nothing. I even tried a different pin on the Pi. The only thing I get is device 00-XXXXX and from what I've read it should show device 28-XXXXX.

As another reviewer noted, the cables are unmarked. There are conventions for wire colors, but they don't always match, and having the wrong component can end up frying your PI if you get it wrong. Please label the cores. I've added a picture to show the correct wire placement. Had it been made that way in the description (it wasn't at the time of writing this post. Hopefully it will be in the future) it would have been 5 stars.

UPDATED: I'm giving this one 4 stars. The replacement came on Thursday. Installing it into my Raspberry Pi was even easier this time since the probe's wires were already tinned. It is now Saturday and my aquarium has been reporting correctly for about 3 days. I think I'm ready to call it a winner.
