New charging systems from GM.

This product will not work well with newer ('07+) computer controlled loading systems. The voltage level achieved during normal operation is very close to the on/off voltage of this isolator. The vehicle can be driven for several hours during the day, and if it is turned off and the doors are opened, the isolator will quickly start a cycle attempting to disconnect the batteries. This is partly due to the location of the current sensor and partly to the way the alternator voltage is regulated…

Works better than the competition

I originally bought the Wirthco Battery Doctor 140A smart relay because it had the added feature of using a booster battery to start the car. Unfortunately, this block didn't work. It kept bugging and never charged my extra battery. I called Wirthco and they said it was different batteries and they would fix it eventually. After more than six months this still hasn't happened so I replaced it with this unit and the extra battery was charged after our first ride. But since I had already routed…

Ost, battery charging problem solution

It took about 15 minutes to install this isolator on our van and I am very satisfied. We had trouble charging our solar batteries in the rain and this is a great alternative when heading to the next location. It's quiet and was the simplest electrical circuit. Came with easy to read/reliable instructions. There was an LED indicator to show if it was charging. We installed it small and compact under the driver's seat in the van. Worth the extra battery and security on this long rainy weekend…

2d battery installed

I just installed a second battery in my 2006 Tahoe Z71. I installed the battery compartment next to the firewall on the passenger side. I removed the fender mount and cut the nutplate with a side grinder. I used body paint to paint over the freshly cut metal for protection. Both batteries are Optima Red Top. Use the same battery for the main and auxiliary units to ensure the resistance matches. This is the most critical from an electronic point of view. I also bought an extra black wire from…

This device can drain the starter battery if not properly connected.

After a long search I bought the device because of the good reviews. I noticed that there was a relay-like click when I first plugged in the device, didn't think anything of it at the time as I assumed it had just initialized the device. Four days later I was stuck because the starter battery was dead. I charged the battery for several hours and monitored the voltage, but when the charger was disconnected there was a parasitic voltage leak that was sinking the battery by 0.01 volts about every…
